Final stop.. Land of Giants. Trees!

We left Kern to head to Sequoia. About 35 miles of canyon road. Not too bad, mostly straight aways or bunch of easy lefts and rights. We saw huge trees! So I knew we found the place. It’s about lunch time, So first thing first… Cooked some bbq beef and rice.

The group shot with a huge 1500 yr old tree behind us! Gotta get that shot! Sequoia has some of the largest trees in the world. So old, they don’t even remember when they were born.

We went and explored the trail.. there was a few people walking around. There was so much history in this place. I can imagine big dinosaurs walking around taking down huge trees. Who knows what happened back then. There are fallen trees, probably got the best of by the lightning bolt. It looked burnt and has a hit. That or the dragon came and got pissed.

I like this, just 3 random trees standing up and arms next to each other. Like a vanguard on a lookout. So we took a group picture with it again!! IMG_3656

Then we had to pack… here’s Kat packing again. Hopefully not her make up kit. IMG_3612

After a days worth of running around the Sequoia’s we head back to LA. We had to stop over at Max’s for dinner. I’m gonna end this post with the tri shot!!

Kern River time!

Full charge and ready to go! We left the camp at around 10 I think.. Perfect timing! Weather was good! Jonathan and them didn’t wanna go to Sequioa with us, they had something to do back in LA. So we went our seperate ways.

Paul, Kathy and Michelle went to Sequoia.. with me of course. Cause I was driving… So off we go! First stop was the Kern River. One of the plan was to go river rafting, but none of us woke up on time for it. So we went river wading instead. We found this nice shaded spot by the river that can be use for future camping site. We dismounted the brotan and went for a river walk.

Here’s a group shot of the brave campers without the fearless leader. The indians without the chief, but it’s ok we have Pocahontas with us.

This is Meech’s fave shot of me this weekend, Me hunting for my fish. She thinks I look like a grizzly bear… But I think some girls would disagree, cause they know I’m more of a Teddy Bear ;)

As we head out of Kern river, Paul nailed his foot! lol. First aid had to be applied, oh I meant band aid. While Kat packed the roof rack with her make up kit.

Day 2!

More like a continuation of Day 1, Cause I haven’t slept yet! Can’t sleep on the first day! Who can? But we had a good breakfast! Typical “Filipino style breakfast”. Eggs with green and red stuff in it, dunno exactly what they put in it. It was really good though! Had “Red” Hot Dogs, Spam, Marinated beef AKA TAPA, Rice! Ofcourse… We had everything but…. Coffee! ARGHHHH!!! It’s ok, McDee’s is about… 10 miles away. Starbucks… 50! lol!

Oh.. and that’s “Meeeech” I think she’s falling asleep.

Average weight gain for everyone this weekend was 4 lbs! We geared up to go the Marina for some water sport action. Alain, is taking a stroll with my MTB, I think he’s looking for a bat cave to drop off his “bats”.

IMG_3276

We drove around the lake and got to the Marina and picked up a 12 passenger party boat.
IMG_3408

There’s Gilligan, The movie star, The millionaire and his wife. Coming down the Hill to take the Minnow.

IMG_3400

I didn’t get to play “skipper” cause I might go crazy with it. Result might not be too fun to handle.. lol. We parked the boat in the middle of the lake and jumped out! We went swimming! Who would jump out of a perfectly running boat?

IMG_3514

Well we all did! I think it was peer pressure that got to them. You’d think no one planned for it, but surprisingly everyone had board shorts or swim suit handy! hahahaha.. posers!
Paul diving down!

IMG_3490

We brought food and drink with us, I dunno why? We were supposed to ride wave runners not boats. I think this was more fun than wave runners. We went back to the camp site and had dinner. It was our turn to cook, well.. I packed and they cooked. Cause someone decided that we’re going to Sequioa national park the next day! What??? I guess no one is tired… let’s go! So, Paul and I started packing some stuff to put away already. The red dogs, mini-octopus, kalbi and pork bacon was gooooooooood…. oh and the fish balls! It was overcast all day too! I love overcast…
IMG_3572
it was a little breezy and nice! We slept converible style! the cover of the tent was removed, We had instant stars in our ceiling.. real stars! No, the one that twinkles at night!
I had a full 8 hour sleep! The patron was untouched… sooooooo sad!

Off to Lake Isabella.. Friday!

Blam… After work! all fools rushed in my phone, that is. I got all kinds of text messages and bbm’s (Blackberry messages for you Iphone nerds)from people in our camping party that all just wanted one thing from me. TO PICK THEM UP FIRST! I think everyone was excited to go to this much needed stress free weekend with friends. But hey I can’t pick up everyone at the same time. I have to do it as order of my route. I drove my “bromobile” cause after all.. we’re going to the river! So when all is said and done, we’re so ready to take the main route to Lake Isabella via 5 to 99 to 178… but the sign flash “bad news – jam at the 5″. We took a detour to the 14 via the high deserts. We got thrown in to this route via the lovely GPS… it was dark and scary canyon route. I dunno where it’s at. I was just following the GPS guidance. But I think it took longer than it should. But after this long ass drive, we finally found the site.
IMG_3186
Our friends were already setup and got their 2 bedroom tent up! Now.. they’re supposed to setup ours too! But I think they ran late and didn’t get a chance to setup our tent. They barely finish theirs… So it’s time to hustle up and get this party started! So we got our tent up and had dinner.
IMG_3202
Chilled out under the tree with our IPOD’s and Grey Goose! It was a really nice weekend… very slow pace and stress free.

Did someone say party? oh.. yes. Blame it on the goose, catch feelin` loose. Who let the goose out?!
I did.. oh I also tried sleeping at the back of my “bro`tan” with a sleeping bag. But a bear might come and get me. No sleep on day one! It’s ok.. that’s what camping is all about. That’s Paul, he’s taking his “Nyquil”.
